C-5 Changing Research Institutions

TypeⅠ:If you wish to transfer to a different institution

Procedure

1．Contact JSPS

Call the JSPS office (03-3263-4998) or send an e-mail to yousei2[at]jsps.go.jp with the following information:
(replace [at] with @)

your name and JSPS Research Fellow ID
your intent to change research institutions (from Tokyo Tech to another institution)
new host researcher's full name

2．Contact the Research Fund Promotion Group (Kenkyū Shikin Josei Group)

Send an e-mail to j-fellow[at]jim.titech.ac.jp with the following information:
(replace [at] with @)

your name and JSPS Research Fellow ID
your intent to change research institutions (from Tokyo Tech to another institution)
new host researcher's full name

Note: Get an official seal on a Letter of Agreement to Accept Fellow (Form 3-2) from the head of the new host institution. You do not need to submit Form 3-2 to the Research Fund Promotion Group. See step 4 below.

3．We will process the document, affix the president's seal, and return it by internal mail.

4. Post the documents (Forms 3-1 and 3-2) to JSPS one month before you leave Tokyo Tech.

TypeⅡ If you wish to transfer from a different research institution to Tokyo Tech

Procedure

1．Contact JSPS

Call the JSPS office (03-3263-4998) or send an e-mail to yousei2[at]jsps.go.jp with the following information:

your name and JSPS Research Fellow ID
your intent to change research institutions (from another institution to Tokyo Tech)
new host researcher's full name

2．Contact the Research Fund Promotion Group (Kenkyū Shikin Josei Group)

Send an e-mail to j-fellow[at]jim.titech.ac.jp with the following information:
(replace [at] with @)

your name and JSPS Research Fellow ID
your intent to change research institutions (from another institution to Tokyo Tech)
new host researcher's full name

Submit a Letter of Agreement to Accept Fellow (Form 3-2) to the Research Fund Promotion Group.

Note: Get an official seal on a Request to Change Research Institutions (Form 3-1) from the head of your current host institution. You do not need to submit Form 3-1 to the Research Fund Promotion Group. See step 4 below.

3．We will process the document, affix the president's seal, and return it by post (or internal mail to the new host researcher's office).

4．Post the documents (Forms 3-1 and 3-2) to JSPS one month before you leave your current institution.

Note:

To maintain quality of research, you will only be permitted to change institutions once a year as a general rule.
Your transfer date will be the first day of any given month as a general rule.

Important:

Be sure to confirm that your Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI) will be transferred to your new research institution.
